A message from our Preschool Director,

Brenda Shapbell

Welcome to our new and improved website! I hope you find this information helpful and informative.

Celebration Preschool provides a safe and nurturing environment while promoting social, emotional, cognitive, physical and spiritual development. We encourage children to be active, creative explorers who are not afraid to try out their ideas.

At Celebration Preschool our preschoolers become independent, self-confident, and inquisitive learners. We believe that the first five years of a child’s life are fundamentally important. They have a direct impact on how children develop learning skills as well as social and emotional abilities. Children learn more quickly during their early years than at any other time in life.

Brenda Shapbell, Preschool Director

Brenda has been an early childhood educator since 1990, first as a teacher and then as a director. She has been the Preschool Director at Celebration Preschool since 2005. She has a M.Ed. in Early Childhood Education in Curriculum and Instruction from Liberty University. Brenda is the proud mother of three grown children and “Gigi” to three fantastic grandsons. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family, reading, shopping, and walking. Brenda loves teaching young children, and believes a child’s early years are the foundation for his or her future development, and provide a strong base for lifelong learning. She believes that preschool provides children opportunities to explore, gain a sense of self, play with peers, and build self-confidence.

She lives in Herndon with her British husband and her 87-year-old father. In her spare time, Lauren likes to garden, read, travel, and spend time with family and friends. She loves teaching preschoolers because they are so eager to learn. She loves creating a classroom environment that sets the stage for life-long learning!

This is Karen’s third year as an assistant teacher. She has a BA in French from Denison University. Karen lives in Ashburn with her husband and three sons, who are all seniors this year (two in college, one in high school). In her spare time, she enjoys hiking with her dog, Ripley, reading, spending time with her family, and catching up with her girlfriends.  Karen loves teaching because preschoolers are excited to learn new things and are a joy to be around; they are truly God’s blessings. She feels early childhood education provides a great foundation for a love of learning, and sets them on the right path to be successful in school, life and learning to work with others.
